Nice Alternative with some caveats

I had switched to bamboo toothbrushes leaving my philips in the cupboard when I came across these and saw the silver lining of both worlds, sort of.

Go head
1) You need to keep the tiny little plastic rings you also used for the plastic version of the tooth brush head. Otherwise the product doesnt really transmit the vibration of the toothbrush very well.

But also know this
2) There is a whole dilemma with bamboo toothbrushes in general. I did some research into this and its depressing. Basically we do need some form of toothbrush that is more ecofriendly than plastic toothbrushes. Interviewing one of its Dutch manufacturers I learn that all of them are produced in the same factory in China and because they remain a "two-component" product – bristles and handle you will never be able to dispose of them well if at all. Basically they partially avoid plastic, but they dont solve it. So one could argue that reusing your electronic main part and only replacing the brush head, does contribute, its less material after all but you still have a throw-away product essentially.

And for those who havent fallen asleep during this review:
Even versions that are 100% declared as biodegradable, aren't really. There are still small chemical components in it to make it safe to use. New versions use Castor Oil for creating bristles, plenty of research there, but it leaves us with the question of where this material is grown, manufactured into safe bristles that you don't swallow whilst brushing (a big issue for manufacturers), and lastly the chemical processes that would be required to decompose the bristles in a way you dont create more byproduct pollution.. (probably impossible). Sooo... yes use these its less material, but dont buy into the illusion it could be a more nature-based solution. I once did before starting my research.
